The wedding preparations of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez have already made enough controversies and now many people have same opinions after realizing the cost of their extravagant Venice event.
The before wedding delights has been everything except positivity for Jeff as the couple had to face immense bashing after being criticized by many internet users for their weird wedding choices, and invitation designs.
This weekend the Amazon founder tied the knot with journalist, Sanchez in Venice, Italy few years after announcing their engagement officialy. The couple dated for almost five years before saying ‘I do’, so it was quite obvious that their wedding was going to be a luxury event.
This is the second time when Bezos and Sanchez fell in love as they both were previously married. The 61-year-old was married with philanthropist named MacKenzie Scott and also shares four children with her. On the other hand Sanchez was the wife to Hollywood agent named Patrick Whitesell, so everyone might expected their wedding to be a simple wedding, but things were different .

The couple had to change their venue last minute as there were protest going on and they got threatened that the inflatable crocodiles could be released into the canal to punish him for allegedly using city for his extravagant wedding event.
Although, many details has not been disclosed to the people yet, but the invitation was revealed somehow to the ABC news, that drew alot of criticism and people started bashing the letter for its unusual design illustrating cartoon pictures of birds, feathers, and butterflies.
“Looks like a 10-year-old birthday invite,” one said.
“It looks like it’s been made in Windows 7 Paint,” another added.
Reportedly, the guest list includes famous personalities like Ivanka Trump, actor Orlando Bloom, and the Karadashian family.
It is obvious with so many high profile attendees, that the expenditure of this event was substantial.
However, as soon as the actual cost of the event was revealed which was to be between $10 and $20 million equating to $50, 000 per guest, all the people who were criticizing the wedding raised the same question, and that question was little disheartening.
They asked, why billionaires cannot pay more in taxes than other people.
A prominent Democratic figure named Bernie Sanders, went to X and said, This is oligarchy. This is obscene.
“While 60 per cent live paycheck to paycheck and kids go hungry, Jeff Bezos, worth $230 billion, goes to Venice on his $500 million yacht for a $20 million wedding and spends $5 million on a ring while his real tax rate is just 1.1 per cent.

“End this oligarchy.”
Some other user wrote:
“Jeff Bezos is worth $230 billion and is reportedly spending $20 million on a three-day wedding in Venice while sailing around on his $500 million yacht. If he can afford to do that, he can afford a wealth tax and to pay Amazon workers a living wage. Hello?”
“If Jeff Bezos can afford to rent Venice for his wedding then he can afford to pay more taxes,” someone else said.
Despite of going through heavy criticism over his tax payments, as people believe he is paying less than he can afford, Bezos along with his wife will be planning to make charitable contributions instead of requesting wedding gifts from their guests.
According to their wedding invitation, they asked for no presents and stated that they would be making contributions.
“We are excited for you to join us! We have one early request: please, no gifts,” the shared invite states.
“Instead, we’re making contributions in your honour and with gratitude to you for making the journey to celebrate with us in Venice.”
