Newborn Baby-Girl Found Alive from The Massive Earthquake Rubble in Syria While Mother Dies

Following the recent earthquake in North-West Syria, rescue workers managed to pull a newborn baby girl out of the rubble and saved her life.

On Monday, February 6, when an enormous earthquake hit Turkey and Syria, in which thousands of people has been killed, a baby girl tied to her mother with an umbilical cord was found alive in the rubble of a destroyed home.

According to the BBC reports, “Her mother went into labor soon after the disaster and gave birth before she died, a relative said. Her father, four siblings, and an aunt were also killed.”

“Dramatic footage showed a man carrying the baby, covered in dust, after she was pulled from debris in Jindayris.”

The infant was shifted to a nearby hospital, and after examining her doctors declared her in stable condition.

“The building in which her family lived was one of about 50 reportedly destroyed by a 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Jindayris, an opposition-held town in Idlib province close to the Turkish border.”

The baby girl was the only member of her family who survived after building collapsed.

On Tuesday, the baby’s uncle named Khalil al-Suwadi talked to the AFP News agency and shared that, “We heard a voice while we were digging. We cleared the dust and found the baby with the umbilical cord [intact], so we cut it, and my cousin took her to hospital. “

The doctor, Hani Maarouf who treated the baby when she came to the hospital told that the baby was unwell and she had several bruises and lacerations on her body at that time.

The pediatrician further said, “She also arrived with hypothermia because of the harsh cold. We had to warm her up and administer calcium,”

However, the baby is in a good condition now.

After the horrifying incident, the rescue video of the baby became viral on the internet, and people felt so heartbroken for her.

The deadly earthquake of 7.8 magnitudes which struck Turkey and Syria early Monday has taken the lives of thousands of people and destroyed many buildings. Rescue operations are still going on in both the countries, and the state of emergency has been also declared.

Almost 11,000 people lost their lives in the catastrophe. According to some reports, in the last 100 years, this earthquake is the strongest one that hit the region.
